Theera Jyothi Teachers Training Institute
Theera Jyothi TTI (Self-Financing) Established, on 28-12-2002 and started the course from the academic year 2004-2005. The institution is established and managed by the Latin Archdiocese of Trivandrum, headed by Archbishop Most Rev. Dr. Soosapakiam M. Fr. Wilfred E., Director and Corporate Manager, R.C. Schools, Archdiocese of Trivandrum is the manager. The Regional Director NCTE Bangalore has granted recognition to Theera jyothi TTI vide order No.KL/ELE/NA/103/SRO/NCTE/2004-05/808 dated 21.10.2004 for starting two years TTC Course during the academic year 2004-05 with an annual intake of 50 students, 25 each under Merit Quota and Management Quota respectively. The Government of Kerala in order No.GO/MS/339/2004/G Edn dated 12/11/2004 has accorded sanction to start TTC Course in Theera Jyothi TTI during 2004-05. Accordingly classes for the first batch of students has started on 01/12/2004.
Theera Jyothi TTI was the fulfillment of the dream of the Trivandrum Arch Bishop Most Rev. Dr. Soosa Pakiyam and the corporate management for the upliftment of the poor people of Thiruvanthapuram District.
The academic year (2006-07) started from 21-s05-06. The institution timing is from 9.30 - 4.00pm. Every day we have assembly which is conducted by the Teacher trainees. The assembly begins with a prayer song followed by news reading and it is evaluated. We are able to finish the activities of the curriculum and the procedure of evaluation with the whole hearted corporation of staff and management.. Important day celebrations such as World environment day, Reading day, Independence day, Teachers day , Gandhi Jayandhi, Ozone day and Pavlov's birthday Feb 26 celebrated which includes seminars, discussion & awareness classes highlighting all its importance. National festivals such as Onam, Ramsan & Christmas etc.were celebrated in a befitting manner. Learning aids Exhibition Work experience materials exhibition and Youth festival were also conducted. One of our trainee Reji A.L took part in the State level TTI Kalolsavam and won first prize & A grade in Malayalam speech. Teaching practice was conducted in three spells.
From 26-10-2006 - 29-10-2006. The Second year TTC students were taken to Munnar-Kodaikannal - Veegaland and from 27-11-2006 - 1-12-2006 the First Year students were taken to Mysore-Ootty-Black Thunder as part of educational tours.
The magazine named 'Adyapi' prepared by the students was released by the DIET Sr. Lecturer Sri. Lekshmi Varahan on 26-9-2006. Soft skill enhancement programme by the performX educational foundation was conducted on 21 and 22 March.
An inspection from the office of the Deputy Director of Education department was carried out this year to check the admission procedure and other details of 2006-2007. The Management also extended all sorts of assistance, guidance, financial support and provided all infrastructure facilities. Special classes were conducted with members of guest faculty from DIET, SCERT and other educational experts.
Regional Practical board appointed from Pareeksha Bhavan of the Education Department had visited our institution on 15-3-07 & 16-3-07 and evaluated the practical works of the Teacher trainees. They observed that the institution is one of the best Teacher Training Institute in infrastructural facilities and academic level in the District.
Theera Jyothi TTI aims at producing cognitively and effectively trained, morally upright, socially committed and spiritually inspired Teachers of India. Every effort shall be made to see that the students will equip themselves with academic excellence, development of skills and character formation based on human values.
